Certification and Licensure

Graduates of the program will be eligible to sit for the national certification examination for the occupational therapist, administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). After successfully passing the exam, students will receive the designation of OTR or occupational therapist, registered. In addition, graduates will be required to apply for a license in the state where they wish to practice. Successive passage of the national certification examination is a requirement of licensure. A felony conviction may affect a graduate’s ability to sit for the NBCOT certification examination or attain state licensure.
