  • Does Maryville charge an application fee?
    There is no application fee.

  • What are the requirements for transfer students?
    Transfer students are considered for admission primarily on the basis of their academic work at all transfer institutions as reflected in their required college or university transcripts.

    • A 2.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale in college work is required for admission. Students with less than a 2.0 GPA may be considered for admission on probation.
    • High school transcripts are required for transfer students with fewer than 60 transferable hours or for admission to certain programs.
    • A maximum of 68 credit hours from a two-year college will be counted toward the completion of a bachelor’s degree.
    • A completed associate’s degree in a specific area will be counted as a minor in the completion of a bachelor’s degree. If courses from the associate’s degree subject area are applied to the major, those courses must be replaced by additional courses for the minor.
    • Students who possess an Associate in Arts General Transfer degree from an accredited institution which follows the Missouri Coordinating Board for Higher Education guidelines, or a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution, will have fulfilled Maryville’s General Education requirement.
    • For the completion of a bachelor’s degree, at least the last 30 credit hours must be taken at Maryville.
    • One half of the major and minor (if required) must be taken at Maryville.
    • There are some special admission requirements for select academic programs.

  • What test scores are required for admission?
    Maryville University does not require the submission of standarized test scores for students applying for freshmen or transfer admission, except in select circumstances. Students who feel their SAT or ACT scores are an accurate reflection of their academic abilities are welcome to submit them for admission consideration, scholarship consideration and/or course placement; however, students who do not submit test scores will not be viewed negatively.

    In support of our strategic plan as it relates to access and in alignment with our admissions philosophy of holistic review, each applicant will be reviewed based upon their academic record, extracurricular activities, recommendations and essay for evidence of potential for success in college.

    Test-Optional will not apply to the following groups of students
    – Prospective student athletes are mandated by the NCAA to submit standardized test scores for athletic eligibility.

    – Students applying from secondary schools/organizations that provide only narrative evaluations rather than some form of grading scale.

    The following academic programs require specific minimum GPA’s for admission consideration:

    Direct-Entry Physical Therapy
    Early Direct Admit Occupational Therapy
    Fast Track Nursing
    Nursing – Day
    Music Therapy
    Nursing – Adult and Online
    Post-Licensure RN-BSN Nursing

  • What GPA is required for admission?
    A high school grade point average of at least 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) for freshman applicants. Applicants who do not meet the criteria listed above, and GED/HiSet applicants (who are considered on a case-by-case basis) may be asked to submit additional material, come to Maryville for a personal interview, and/or complete additional testing before an admission decision is made.

    Transfer applicants need a 2.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale in college work for admission. Students with less than a 2.0 GPA may be considered for admission on probation.

  • Are letters of recommendation required for admission?
    Maryville University does not require letters of recommendation for our admissions process.
  • Does Maryville accept Advanced Placement (AP) credit?

  • How do I register for classes?

    Maryville University’s detailed course schedule is published online before the upcoming registration period. In some cases, a life coach/adviser’s approval is required to register for classes. Students should contact their life coach/adviser prior to the registration period to schedule an advising appointment. Life coaches/advisers assist in course selection and guide students in satisfying specific degree requirements as efficiently as possible.

    Many students can register online. Assistance with registration is always available by contacting the Solution Squad or your life coach/adviser.

  • When is the deadline to register for classes?

    In general, students have through the first week of class to register. Please contact the Solution Squad at (314) 529-9360 or by e-mail at ssc@shshow.net for more information on registration deadlines.

  • Does Maryville offer summer courses?
    Yes! You can find the academic calendar for summer, fall and spring sessions on our catalog.

  • What is the START program?
    START program is your introduction to Maryville University for freshmen students. You will get to do the following and more:

    • Meet and interact with your future classmates, deans and faculty
    • Receive an iPad to provide you the opportunity to engage in an interactive learning environment
